Life Style: A single brooded species that flies by day from May to August. It may also visit light. The larvae feed on the roots of Tussilago and Petasites fragrans. They hibernate in the roots and may feed in the stem during spring. They pupate in a cocoon in the ground.
Identification: The species is similar to E. cirsiana and female E. scutulana except that it has a more marked forewing with a variable overall colour that is usually paler than E. cirsiana. It commonly has orange ochre markings. More Info
